The time has come for us to travel back to Canada. This week included a few last visits to the beach, some last minute shopping, and one last day in the ministry.
On Monday, it was family picture day. We planned this for a long time - we wanted to get our family picture done here with the beautiful views in the background. It turned out to be a hot day, but we got some great shots.
On Tuesday,
We did some shopping and then to the BBC beach. We met up with Robert and Ruby there. Also, this time we went on their Water Park, which is slides and obstacals floating on the water that we played on. Jayden and my brothers jumped off the top, but that was too scary for me.
On Wednesday,
In the morning I worked in the Ministry work with Scott. We were talking to people at their businesses.
After working with Scott, I went on a return visit with Jayden. She is a really nice girl who wants to study the bible.
Then I got a chocolate Frappe at the Grenada Coffee shop.
Then we went to the beach for our last time.:(
The weather was perfect for the beach today, but the waves were bigger then usually. My mom got hit by a wave so she lost her sun glasses and my brother lost his snorkeling goggles. But the waves were fun to.
Unfortunately, I have to say Good Bye to Grenada.
Well it is now the year 2017 and our stay in Grenada is almost over - we only have 3 days left before we go back to the Cold :( and my Cats :)
Here is a update of what we did this week.
On Monday we went to Concord Falls. That is a water fall that is very pretty and it is fun to swim in the water below the waterfall. We also took some new friends, Amie and Micah, that we met at the La Taunte congregation on Saturday. They were from Tacoma, Washington and they are need-greaters that came to Grenada to help for 4 months. They also brought along two other sisters that are visiting from California named Amy and Brenna. I love meeting new people.
On Tuesday, we went in the ministry with Robert and Ruby. It rained a bit, but we still had a fun morning.
Then we went to the beach in the afternoon, and then went to the Prickly Bay restaurant for supper. At the restaurant we sat outside, and they played a trivia game while we ate.
On Wednesday I had to do some school work, but then went to the beach in the afternoon. School work is easier when I know I will get to go to the beach. :)
Then on Thursday and Friday, I had to look after my brothers because mom and dad went on a little vacation by themselves and left me to babysit. It was a tough job, but somebody has to do it. It rained too much to go to the beach or in service so I didn't do much. At the meeting on Thursday night, each of my 3 brothers had a part - Tyler did the Digging for Gems part, Lucas did the reading for the Bible Study, and Jamin did the concluding prayer. It was a busy night.
On Saturday the sun came out again. In the morning I worked in service with Donna - I really like working with her in service. Then on Saturday afternoon, we met up with Shane and Alyssa and drove to the North end of Grenada to meet up with mom and dad at the hotel they stayed at - Petite Anse. I swam in the pool there and then we had supper there.
On Sunday, we went to our last meeting here. My mom cried because we are going to miss all the friends in the congregation. Then we went to the Calabash resort for lunch. We know the chef - Mark. It is an awesome restaurant on the beach and Mark is an awesome chef.
I played chess on a huge chessboard on the beach.
After an awesome lunch and coconut ice cream, we went to the beach. Sometimes I play a game with my brothers in the water where I pretend to baptize them. :)
After it got dark, we went to Prickly Bay again to watch an outdoor movie while eating pizza.
Wow, that was a busy week. We leave on Thursday morning, so we only have 3 more days to go to the beach. Check back later for those details.
Today is the last day of 2016 but we are staying in Grenada for another 2 weeks. Time has gone by fast, but I am anxious to get back to my cats.
Speaking of my cats, I have made friends with some cats here. On Wednesday at the beach, I saw a little grey cat that looks just like my Sid at home. The little cat was so cute and so friendly. :)
There is also an Orange cat at the house were we live that is so cute and friendly - she even came in and slept in our bed.
So let me tell you about the events this week.
On Monday we went in the ministry. I have to use an umbrella in the ministry because the sun is so hot.
Then on Monday afternoon, we went on a road trip to the north end of the Island to a place called Petite Anse. I love to swim in the pool there that overlooks the ocean. We also had supper there.
On Tuesday, I had to do school work, but we went out for pizza with a bunch of friends we met at Shane's wedding. Some were going back to Guyana so it was nice to see them again before they left.
On Wednesday we went to the beach at the Rex.
This video shows the little snails I saw.
We also watched the sunset.
Thursday was school work day again. On Friday we had our missionary friends, Robert and Ruby over for the evening and I showed them my card tricks. ;)
Today we went in the ministry again this morning. It was a hot morning and we climbed some very steep hills. We needed a rest after that.
We are going to the meeting at Robert and Ruby's congregation this evening. Their meeting is at 5PM on Saturday. That is a weird time to me, but I guess that's what works best for them.
I guess this is my last post this year. But we will still be in Grenada next year (ie. tomorrow)
This week we went to a Wedding in Grenada for Shane and Alyssa. Shane is a friend we met when we first came to Grenada 4 years ago. He is really tall and he knows sign language.
He got married on Saturday to a nice girl from Guyana named Alyssa.
Two years ago when my oldest brother Lucas got married, Shane was the best man. So my brother was the best man for Shane's wedding.
We are back in Grenada again, for another month. This year we went earlier in the Winter (December) because a friend of our was getting married. But it was nice to get away from the cold. It was already -25 Degrees when we left Edmonton.
After working so hard building our new house back in Spruce Grove, I needed a break. Wow, it is so nice to be back in the warm ocean.
I would like to tell you about my trip to Grenada earlier this year. It was a lot of fun. We went for a month in February, 2016. We couldn't wait to get in the water.
I have lots of friends in Grenada. Here is a picture of me meeting up with a couple of friends I met the first time we were there.
This was the third time we went to Grenada. I found a star fish each time we were there. I wonder if it was the same one??
We would go to the beach almost every day. I love swimming and I love the ocean. Some days the water was so clear you could see everything on the bottom without goggles.
One day when we were touring, we found some old planes that had been shot down many years ago. They looked cool.
You might think that when you are on an island, you would only want to swim in the ocean. But sometimes it is nice to swim in a pool too. One of my favorite pools is at a restaurant called Petite Anns. I could swim while they were making my supper!
Another beautiful thing is the sunset over the ocean. When it hit the horizon, it would disappear in only a minute or two. It was so beautiful. We would try to watch it everyday.
There is also an old fort in Grenada called Fort George. It is on a high cliff overlooking the ocean.
Also from the top of Fort George, there is a very good view of the city of St. George and where the cruise ships dock.
When we go to Grenada, we also take time each week to teach people about the bible. Here is Anisha, a girl that I was teaching, along with her cousin. I started teaching her last year and then continued when we were there this year.
There are also beautiful waterfalls in Grenada. And the water is warm and clean, so it is fun to swim below the waterfall. I also like to jump off the cliff, but this year I was sick on the day we went to the waterfall. Last year I did the jump.
On Saturday I did something that I have never done before - Jumping off a cliff into the water. We were at
the Concord waterfalls.
There are two different waterfalls at Concord. One is at the parking lot but you have to hike up the mountain to the other falls.
First, we met up with a group of friends to drive to the falls. One of the friends was a girl my age named Hershel. Altogether we had a group of 14 people. When we got to the parking lot, first we hiked up to the upper waterfall. On the hike we had to cross the stream 3 or 4 times. I wore water shoes so I could walk through the water.
When we got to the waterfall it was beautiful, but was cold to swim in it.
After we had a little swim, we hiked back down to the lower waterfall where I jumped off the cliff into the water 2 times. It was scary, but fun!
From our campsite, we can see several small islands that are very close. Some of the islands are for sale - I would like to buy one. :)
To make a fire, we had to cut firewood with a Cutlass. That is the kind of knife they use in Grenada for everything. They don't have an axe like we have at home. My brothers had a hard time chopping wood with the cutlass.
Sleeping in a tent was hard because the ocean waves were loud and kept me awake. And there were lots of frogs and bugs that made noise,
Brad and Karen also helped us make giant bubbles - they were huge.
FINALLY - I have been waiting so long to go back to Grenada. I was here two years ago and loved it, and I am finally back, and loving it even more.
Our house this time is very close to the house we had last time - it is on Grand Anse Beach. Here is a picture of our house.
I like living so close to the beach because it is nice to go for a short swim in the ocean each afternoon to cool off. I love the water and the water loves me. With my goggles or snorkel and mask, I see so many things in the water.
We had a great time camping in Jasper this month. We saw animals such as Elk, Deer, and Squirrels. We hiked and rode bicycles. We sat around the campfire and we even watched a movie on the big screen. Let me show you our fun in these videos.
Mount Edith Cavell:
On the first day of our trip, we hiked up Mount Edith Cavell where there is a large glacier. A glacier is a large chunk of ice on the top of the mountain. Along the way, my friends taught me how to build an Inukshuk.
Glacier Skywalk:
On day two, we drove to the new Skywalk in Jasper National Park. It was a glass floor that is 300 M (900 ft) high above the valley. It was a little scary, but also fun. I was pretty scared that day.
Patricia Lake:
On the third day we visited a beautiful lake called Patricia lake. The water was clear, but cool. We saw some elk bathing in the lake.
Maligne Canyon:
On the forth day we hiked along Maligne Canyon. This is a deep narrow canyon that a creek carved into the mountain. It is amazing how the water erodes the rocks away to create a beautiful canyon like this. There were many waterfalls along the way and a thick carpet of moss on the ground.
Yesterday we went on a Boat Trip from where my Grandpa lives in Comox, BC, to an Island called Cortes.
Cortes is an Island that is between Vancouver Island and the rest of BC. Here is a satelite picture of the Island:
Boat Trip to Cortes Island:
Our new friend, Kurt Kosh, took us in his boat across the ocean to the Island. We started at a boat launch near Comox. On the way we did some fishing where there water was 200 feet deep.
When we got to the Cortes Island, we found many types of fish along the sea shore. There were Oysters, clams, crabs, and lots of beautiful Jelly Fish.
Then we went to a beach with white sand that was on a lake on the Island. The water was so warm that I swam in the water for 3 hours.
